Diaries and papers, 1815-1882.

Diaries and a few misc. papers (1861-1869), primarily invitations, of Otis Norcross (1811-1882). The diaries (1859-1882) document many of his activities as a merchant in his own Boston crockery and earthenware business, as a Boston public official, including Mayor in 1867, and as an active member of numerous private charity organizations, as well as some personal and social activities. Also included is a letterbook (1815-1817) of Otis Norcross (1785-1827), Norcross's father and the founder of the company in partnership with Gilman Collamore until 1816. The letters document his business activities in the pottery industry, in particular with Lodges & Tooth, a distribution firm of Liverpool, England.
